The FDI World Dental Alliance Summit highlights sustainable dental practices for a greener future

The FDI World Dental Alliance World Environment Day Virtual Summit highlights sustainable dental practices for a greener future

Geneva, May 15, 2023 / PRNewswire / -- The FDI World Dental Alliance (FDI) today announced that its highly anticipated Virtual Summit on Dental Sustainability will take place on June 5, World Environment Day.

Following the great success of the Dental Sustainability Initiative over the past two years, FDI is proud to host this virtual summit as part of the second phase of the project. The summit promises to deliver engaging case studies, innovative ideas and research projects, all dedicated to reducing dentistry's impact on the environment. Attendees can also look forward to a virtual display of poster summaries and financial aid funds designed specifically for participants from low-income countries.

Since its launch in 2021, the program has successfully brought key stakeholders together in a shared commitment to implementing sustainable solutions for a greener future and improving dentistry's environmental impact. They include leading figures from industry, health professionals, academic experts, legislatures and dental associations. The initiative has gained significant momentum. To date, 265 dental practices have registered for the Sustainability Toolkit, demonstrating their commitment to sustainable practices. In addition, 125 stakeholders from the oral health care supply chain have signed the Sustainable Dentistry Commitment.

In the new project phase, supported by Dentsply Sirona, Haleon, Sunstar, Colgate and SDI Limited, dental professionals will have access to valuable educational tools and resources that will enable them to make a positive impact on the environment and society.
